Nolan Elementary-Middle School in Detroit is evacuated, no one hurt, after fire breaks out in classroom

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit firefighters called out to a school on Thursday after a fire started in a classroom.

Crews were sent to Nolan Elementary-Middle School, on Lantz Street near I-75 and Seven Mile Rd., just after 10:30 a.m. on June 5.

Smoke was seen coming from all of the windows in the front part of the school.

According to the Detroit Fire Department, everyone was evacuated from the building and all are safe.

The fire was found in a first floor classroom which was damaged along with one other room, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
