(WWJ) -- It was a tough ride home last night for many metro Detroit residents, especially those in northern Oakland County.

After one-to-three inches of rain fell in the early evening on Tuesday, residents told WWJ that it made some roads in the Waterford area, like Elizabeth Lake, completely impassable.

Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard tweeted that many roads and underpasses were flooded, saying, “We actually have flooding coming in our headquarters.”

Bouchard also added that numerous cars were left stranded in the hazardous conditions.

A flash flood advisory for Oakland County ended last night after 9:00 p.m., though the risk of thunderstorms continues today and through the weekend.
