Flood Advisory issued for Wayne County Wednesday afternoon, with heavy rain in the forecast

(WWJ) A Flood Advisory has been posted for Wayne County as forecasters warn of "urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall" expected Wednesday afternoon.

Minor flooding is possible in low-lying and poor drainage areas, according to the the Naitonal Weather Service.

Just after noon on Wednesday, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms, with a couple of inches expected to fall in a short period of time.

The Flood Advisory is in effect until 3:15 p.m. on July 9.

Some locations that may experience flooding include Taylor, Dearborn, Wyandotte, Dearborn Heights, Lincoln Park, Southgate, Allen Park, Melvindale, Ecorse and River Rouge.

The NWS said there's a "Marginal Risk" for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across the Metro Detroit area Wednesday afternoon and evening. Along with heavy rain and localized flooding, large hail and damaging wind gusts near 60 mph are possible with these storms.
