(WWJ) – Some spots across Metro Detroit could see flooding Sunday evening as rain moves across the area, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS says rain, heavy at times, is capable of bringing up to an inch or more of rain.

While the Tri-Cities area – near Saginaw – could be the heaviest hit, the NWS says coverage shower activity will increase to the south throughout the rest of the day.

Isolated thunderstorms "are possible for all locations, but will be most likely across the Detroit Metro region and down to the Ohio border," according to the NWS.

AccuWeather predicts thunderstorms could hit the Detroit area between 4-6 p.m. and again after 7 p.m.

With the possibility of heavy rainfall from the storms, the NWS says "ponding of water on roadways or localized flooding in flood-prone areas will be possible."

Sunday saw high humidity across Metro Detroit, but AccuWeather meteorologist Carl Erickson says that should taper off overnight as temperatures dip to the mid-60s.

But Monday will be "mostly cloudy and muggy" again, with the possibility for a thunderstorm.
