Thousands and thousands of people are hurting emotionally and financially this holiday season under the coronavirus pandemic that has robbed them of family members -- and jobs.
Local human service agencies are doing what they can to alleviate the crisis, and others are stepping in too, including this situation: To make sure everyone in Detroit has turkey on the table on Thanksgiving, ACC Fresh Market is giving away free turkey dinners today.
They're calling it the "Giving Thanks Celebration," and they're making 500 turkeys available for free today. But it's not just turkey, they're also giving away sides, rolls and dessert for a complete Thanksgiving dinner.
The giveaway starts at 10 a.m. at ACC's Fresh Market, on 7 Mile near John R in Detroit. It's a drive-through event that's first-come, first-served, and no questions asked.
