(WWJ) Metro Detroit will be full of activity this weekend—a welcome change from last year when most local Labor Day weekend traditions were canceled or scaled down.
Arts, Beats and Eats-Royal Oak
Arts, Beats and Eats is back in full force.
Visitors will be able to enjoy food from more than 50 restaurants across the local area—including a Royal Oak Mexican cantina, Tequila Blue, Sedona Taphouse, Crispelli’s and dozens more. Restaurants will also identify dietary restrictions with their samples, accommodating gluten free, sugar free, vegan and dairy free diets.
In addition to the delicious ‘eats;’ the festival will showcase the creations of more than 100 local artists. Their talents range from ceramics, to glassware, 2D-3D printing and much more. Over 220 bands—including the Grammy Award-winning Stone Temple Pilots, Bobby Brown, Neon Trees and Detroit-area musicians—will be on hand.

Admission: Saturday-Monday is $5 before 3 p.m., and $10 after 3 p.m.
Michigan State Fair
The Michigan State Fair—canceled last year—is back at the Big Top in Novi. It features a wide variety of family fun activities including baby animal nurseries, butter sculptures, dogs doing tricks, giant crops, art projects, home brewing competitions, pig races, carnival rides, a circus and much more. Where: Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, on Grand River at Taft.
Admission: Adult $8, Children $6 for entry to the fair only (not including carnival and circus); $23 for Ultimate Wristband which includes the circus and carnival rides.
Romeo Peach Festival
The Festival, a tradition since 1931, celebrates Romeo’s prized crop with a diverse list of events throughout the city including: used book sales, carnival rides, fireworks, a Peachy Palooza at the Juliet Chocolate Factory, Mega 80’s pop and rock, a classic car show, a children’s parade…
Westview Orchards Market will also be serving up peach pieces, cobbler, fudge, wine, salsa, jams, jelly and dressing.

Hamtramck Labor Day Festival
The Hamtramck Labor Day Festival has been a tradition since 1980, proposed as an attempt to lift the community’s spirits. It began when the Dodge Main Factory, which had provided thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue to the community and surrounding areas, shut down; according to the Festival’s About Page. Visitors can enjoy food, music, crafts, carnival rides. This year’s festival will include boat races down Jos. Campeau and wrestling.
