University of Michigan basketball fans are celebrating the team's National Championship with a parade. It gets underway Saturday at 10am.
Michigan defeated UConn 69-61 to win the NCAA men's basketball championship. The parade starts at the President's House, down State Street, to Yost Ice Arena.
From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., a number of Ann Arbor streets will be closed by police.
• South State Street from South University Street to Schembechler Hall
• South University Street from Tappan Street to South State Street
• Monroe Street from South State Street to Tappan Street
• Tappan Street from Monroe Street to South University Street
Police say attendees should stay behind all ropes and barricades and remain out of the parade route. They are also asking people to not throw any items into the parade. Alcohol is prohibited at the event.
There will also be a celebration at Crisler Center, beginning at 1 p.m. The championship celebration at Crisler Center will be televised live by the Big Ten Network. We'll have live coverage on WWJ Newsradio 950.
