STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- Sterling Heights Police say they have arrested a girl suspected of making a threat directed at Sterling Heights Stevenson High School on Thursday.

The department is investigating that, officials said, along with a separate school shooting threats made Wednesday at Heritage Junior High School.

Sterling Heights PD Public Information Officer Lt. Mario Bastianelli said both incidents involved threats to “shoot up the school." He added in a statement that neither threat was deemed credible, however:

"As we have in the past and as we move forward, every incident involving threats in our schools will be taken seriously, and investigated using every bit of resources available at the police department," he added.

"We work very closely with the Macomb County Prosecutors Office, and warn that anyone who decides to make these kinds of threats in our schools will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Charges are pending against the juvenile suspect, whose age was not disclosed by police. Police did not say if she is a student at Stevenson, and her name will not be released due to her juvenile status, Bastianelli said.

Meanwhile, no one has been arrested or charged in connection with the Heritage threat at this point.

While police have not offered any details about that case, am image circulating on social media shows a disturbing message written in marker on a whiteboard.

These incidents come in the wake of the deadly mass shooting at Oxford High School in Oakland County on Tuesday, and amid school closures due to reported threats all over metro Detroit.
