DETROIT (WWJ) -- A 19-year-old Detroit man who is already facing charges in connection with a non-fatal shooting at Greektown last weekend now stands accused of first-degree murder for the death of a Detroit homeowner.
In addition to the Greektown charges already levied against him, Aaron Leviticus McClinton faces one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony firearm after he allegedly shot and killed 39-year-old DeAndre Fortson.
On Apr. 7, around 12:30 p.m., Detroit police responded to reports of a disturbance in the 20150 block of Hartwell-- a neighborhood west of Schaefer and south of 8 Mile.
Looking around the residence in question, officers found Fortson lying dead inside his side-door entrance. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the chest.
At this time, law enforcement alleges that McClinton killed Fortson on Apr. 1, around 6:30 p.m. -- nearly a week before to the disturbance call lead DPD to the body.
Authorities believe McClinton fired a handgun through the side door of the home, fatally wounding Fortson.
This is not the first time McClinton's name has made its way into the media this week.
The defendant was arrested earlier this week and charged with multiple felonies in connection with a non-fatal shooting at Greektown last weekend.
For the Greektown assault, McClinton was charged with two counts of assault with intent, felonious assault, resisting and obstructing an officer and a number of weapons felonies. He was arraigned Wednesday and given a $5 million bond.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, more specific facts and evidence against McClinton will be provided at his preliminary examination, which is currently scheduled for May 8, 2023.
