DETROIT (WWJ) – A 19-year-old Detroit man has been charged in one of five shootings near Greektown over the weekend that prompted Detroit police to roll out a 12-point summer policing plan.

Aaron Leviticus McClinton has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon, felonious assault and resisting and obstructing police. He was also charged with four counts of felony firearm.

The charges stem from a shooting near Randolph and Congress Streets, near the Greektown area on April 15. Around 11:30 p.m. that night McClinton allegedly pulled out a gun and fired at a 19-year-old from Oak Park, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities have not released any information about what led up to the shooting or whether McClinton knew the victim prior to the incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital. His condition was not released.

McClinton was arraigned Wednesday in 36th District Court and given a $5,000,000 cash bond. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for Friday morning. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 1.

About a half hour after this shooting, a security guard was shot to death outside a liquor store on Monroe Street in Greektown. A night prior, one person was killed and three others, including the suspect, were injured a few blocks away near Randolph and Monroe.
