LIVONIA (WWJ) – Livonia will become “Flavortown” this weekend as celebrity chef Guy Fieri brings his Chicken Guy! restaurant to town.
The first of 20 Chicken Guy! locations will open Saturday at 11 a.m. at 30130 Plymouth Road, between Merriman and Middlebelt.
The chain, hatched by the minds of Fieri and restaurateur Robert Earl, features fast-casual service with signature sandwiches, salads, special sauces, and of course Guy’s famous chicken tenders.
“It’s some of the most tender chicken I’ve ever had in my life. Anyone can make a chicken tender. These are just different,” said Tomey Group CEO Anthony Tomey.
Tomey Group runs 45 Jimmy John’s stores across Metro Detroit. While this will be the first Chicken Guy! location in Michigan – and the chain’s eighth overall – Tomey says this will not be the last.
Tomey told WWJ’s Terri Lee at a soft opening Wednesday customers can expect great customer service, top-notch food and, of course, the flavors.
“It’s all about the flavor. That’s what he is, he’s ‘Flavortown,’ right? He’s all about that stuff and it really makes a huge difference in what we’re doing,” Tomey said.
The menu at Chicken Guy! will feature “one-of-a-kind all-natural fresh chicken tenders, hand-pounded to maximize crunch and paired with a wide selection of delicious sauces.”
Other mouth-watering creations include seasoned fries, Mac Daddy Mac ‘n Cheese, fried pickles, and of course desserts like the Triple Double Ice Cream Treat.

The Livonia location will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., starting with Saturday’s grand opening.
To celebrate, Chicken Guy! will be honoring Livonia Fire and Police by offering them a free meal. They will be able to experience a sandwich and side dish of their choice, by simply showing their badge. This offer is valid only on Saturday.
In addition, throughout the day guests will have the chance to win various prizes and of course be the first in Michigan to try Chicken Guy!
