HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) — An investigation is underway following a police chase in Macomb County that stemmed from a dispute between neighbors.
It all unfolded around 3 a.m. Wednesday when Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were called out for an “in-home dispute between two neighbors,” as a woman told police her neighbor was “causing a disturbance,” officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies had previously interacted with the 58-year-old Harrison Township man and they were aware he had outstanding felony warrants.
A responding deputy saw the man in a GMC Yukon driving on Joy Boulevard in Harrison Twp. and activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the suspect.
The man, however, ignored the deputy and took off speeding, according to the sheriff’s office.
The suspect lost control of the SUV, left the roadway and went into a ditch. The suspect was able to get back on the road and began driving the opposite direction. Deputies momentarily lost sight of the suspect while turning around, but ultimately spotted him again.
A short time later the driver once again lost control of the SUV, left the road and rolled over. Dash camera footage shows the SUV on its roof after coming to a rest in a home’s front yard.
The Harrison Twp. Fire Department responded to the scene and took the suspect to the hospital for treatment. His condition was not disclosed.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Authorities have not released the man’s name and it is not clear what charges he may face.
Officials did not release any further information about the initial dispute that led to the 911 call.
