Suspect on the run after Highland Park shooting leaves one man dead, another injured

HIGHLAND PARK (WWJ) — The search is on for the suspect who opened fire in Highland Park late Wednesday afternoon, leaving one man dead and another injured.

Michigan State Police were called to assist in the investigation of the shooting, which happened on Pilgrim Street, just west of Woodward Avenue.

A 41-year-old Detroit man was killed, according to MSP. Investigators said in an update Thursday afternoon he was the target of the shooting, but no further details were released. The victim’s name was not released.

A 61-year-old man from Highland Park was also hit in the shooting. He sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say there is currently no information on the suspect and a possible motive in the case remains unclear.
