SAGINAW (WWJ) -- Detectives with the Saginaw Major Case Unit are investigating a New Year's Day homicide, according to Michigan State Police.
The MSP Third District said investigators found a man dead at around 5:45 p.m. on Jan. 1, inside the building at 417 S Michigan Ave., which is The Neutral Zone Sports Bar.
The victim has been identified as a 36-year-old Saginaw resident, according to police, but the MSP is not releasing his name at this time.
While the MSP did not specify how the man was killed, MLive reported that police initially responded to reports of a shooting at the bar. The public bar was closed to the public at the time of the incident, MLive said, but the business had been rented out for a private event.
Police said no arrests have been made, and thus far no suspects have been named or described.
The investigation "is open and ongoing," according to the MSP Tri-City Post on Tuesday.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Saginaw Major Case Unit at 989-759-1605 or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers of Flint & Genesee County at 1-800-422-JAIL (5245).
