Hotel staff at Red Roof Inn in Southfield detected a foul odor, and then made a grisly discovery.
Police said they were called to the Red Roof Inn on Northwestern Highway on Monday by management after they found a dead body in a room at the hotel.
Southfield police said the woman is approximately 27 years old and the cause of death is unknown. Police also couldn't say if foul play is suspected or how long she may have been deceased inside the room.
