GARDEN CITY (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in Garden City, where a house exploded Thursday night.
Emergency crews responded at around 6:30 p.m. on March 13 to find a home in the 6500 block of Slivio Street — in a neighborhood between Warren and Ford Roads — engulfed in smoke, according to the Garden City Fire Department.
Fire Chief Randy Keen said no one was home at the time, and there were no reports of any injuries.
"Our crews made entry noticing that there was fire inside, knocked down the fire inside," Keen told WWJ Newsradio 950's Taylor Dietz. "Prior to that they did a search to make sure there were no occupants; it came in as 'unknown occupants.' They found that there was no occupants of the home. Once that was all clear, they extinguished the fire."
He talked about the extent of the damage.
"The house seemed like it remained on the foundation," "he said. "So, the explosion caused the bricks to come off the facia of it, but that's about it; nothing too much structurally that was obvious at that time."
Keen said gas and electrical crews also responded to the scene.
"Both services are provided by DTE (Energy) in Garden City, and they came out and disconnected the electric line. And they also terminated the gas service and secured that," Keen said. "But they have not done any investigation into the inside of the residence."
Officials said no surrounding homes were affected, and there's no danger to the community ay this time.

There is no information about a possible cause at this time, as the investigation is just getting underway. Keen said they're looking through video of the incident.
