(WWJ) A massive fire at a senior citizens’ complex in downtown Detroit has left at least 8 people hospitalized.
Detroit Fire Commissioner Dave Fornell told WWJ the flames broke out around 5:15 p.m. Sunday at Parkview Place Apartments on Chene between Jefferson and Palmer.
Fornell told WWJ at least one person had to be rescued from a balcony.
WXYZ reports at least three of the people hospitalized are in critical condition. The conditions of the others are unknown.
The fire started on the seventh floor, according to Fornell. The fire was under control before six o’clock.
The cause remains under investigation.
