(WWJ) — A multi-vehicle crash including a jackknifed semi-truck left westbound I-94 Tuesday in Southwest Michigan closed for several hours.

Michigan State Police had to shut down the freeway near M-311, mile marker #102 southeast of Kalamazoo, due to the crash.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash, but it happened as snow was falling across the area.

Photos posted to the MSP Fifth District X page show a jackknifed semi-truck and other commercial vehicles backed up on the freeway. Officials have not said how many total vehicles were involved.

Officials said there were only minor injuries, but no other details were disclosed.

The freeway was shutdown around 11:30 a.m. and remained closed until 1:30 p.m.

MSP officials said there were several other crashes across the area as there were "whiteout conditions all over SW Michigan" and drivers were being told to use extra caution on the roads.
