MACOMB COUNTY (WWJ) - A 30-year-old suspect accused of killing a woman at a Roseville Belle Tire and stabbing another on Wednesday is a California resident and has an extensive criminal record there, according to information gathered by WWJ's Charlie Langton.
New details about the suspect are emerging one day after police arrested the man in connection to two stabbing incidents in Roseville and St. Clair Shores. The 30-year-old California native is accused of fatally attacking a wife and mother just after 6 a.m. in the parking lot of a popular Belle Tire located at 32700 Gratiot, just south of 14 Mile.
The suspect then fled from the area, the Roseville Police Department said, and moments later stabbed a second victim at a bus stop near 12 Mile Road and Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores.
The two cases were eventually linked and authorities in Macomb County put out a public call for help in locating the man. He was eventually captured by Warren police around 12 p.m. near Cadillac and Van Dyke.
The suspect's name has not been released, but Langton said additional information is expected to be released when the man is arraigned.
"Macomb County prosecutor Peter Lucido says that formal murder and other charges are likely today for [the] 30-year-old man from California," Langton reported.
The man has a long criminal history, but despite that information, Langton added that there are still many questions left behind regarding the two apparently random stabbings.
Questions that Lucido also wants to answer.
"How can we stop this and what caused somebody from from California to come here with an extensive record in California to create such a heinous crime?' Lucido asked at a briefing on Wednesday.
According to Langton, the woman killed in the alleged stabbings has been identified as 60-year-old Cheryl Ann Parsley-Ryan, a wife of 23 years to her husband Larry and a mother to three children. She also took care of the family's three cats.
"Very sad, sad story here," Langton said. "We should get more information later today."
