INKSTER (WWJ) -- A Metro Detroit teen is facing criminal charges after authorities say he brought a gun to school.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Tuesday announced that she has charged a 13-year-old boy from Inkster in connection with the incident at Tomlinson Middle School on Monday.
According to investigators, it was discovered that the boy had brought an unsecured handgun and ammunition into the school, on Annapolis Street in Inkster, in his backpack.
Inkster police officers responded to the school a around 11:15 a.m. and took the boy into custody.
No one was hurt.
He has since been charged as a juveniles with two counts: Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon in a Weapons-Free School Zone.
A preliminary hearing was held Tuesday afternoon before Referee Leslie Graves at the Juvenile Detention Facility.
The juvenile received a $3,000/10% bond, with the conditions that he cannot possess firearms or ammunition, and must comply with school disciplinary action.
He will be back in court for a pretrial conference is scheduled for April 14.
