REDFORD (WWJ) -- One woman in her 20s is dead after her car stalled out on I-96 and was rear-ended by an SUV in Redford Township early Wednesday morning.
Police said the crash happened in the eastbound lanes of I-96 near Beech Daly.
The driver of the SUV, a 40-year-old man, said he didn't see the stalled car until it was too late, calling it a "tragic accident."
The driver of the stalled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV and a male in his 20s -- a passenger in the stalled car -- are both uninjured.
Redford Police Capt. Al DiParma said alcohol or drugs does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
WWJ reporter, Mike Campbell said the car that was hit sustained serious damage to its rear end, with the back tires pushed all the way up to the back of the front seat.
The SUV flipped over onto its roof and the sedan was pinned to the right retaining wall.
