(WWJ) – For about a year now, there’s been a battle brewing in the Macomb County political landscape. The tale of the tape? Executive Mark Hackel vs. Prosecutor Pete Lucido.
The two have been at odds since last November, when Lucido went around the county’s board of commissioners to beef up the county budget in order to add more staff to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Despite getting that money, Lucido never actually filled those positions.
It’s turned into a legal battle that has cost Macomb County taxpayers upwards of $35,000. In a new Daily J podcast, WWJ’s Zach Clark looks at the potential damage done by this power struggle and what future problems it may cause.
