JACKSON (WWJ) - A teen allegedly joyriding in a stolen vehicle caused quite a bit damage to a Jackson home after police say he crashed through the front porch on Tuesday.
The Jackson Police Department said officers were dispatched to the home in the 800 block of Second Street after receiving a call of a "car versus house accident" around 3:30 p.m.
Based on a preliminary investigation, officers believe the driver lost control, veered off the road and struck the front porch of the home, but when police arrived on scene, the driver was nowhere to be found.
A witness told officers a young man was seen running from the crash and a Michigan State Police K-9 team was called in to help locate the suspect.
A short while later, the dog found a 15-year-old boy allegedly involved in the incident. He was taken into custody and released to his parents, police added.
According to authorities, the owner of the vehicle had called 911 about 30 minutes prior to the crash and reported it stolen from the 600 block of Homewild Ave.
