ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- A well-known Detroit broadcaster who recently made some headlines of his own has been tapped for this year’s Memorial Day Parade in Roseville.

Organizers announced back in March that former WDIV-TV host Jason Carr would serve as grand marshal for the parade, which is set for 10 a.m. on Monday, May 29 at Roseville High School, and concludes with a ceremony outside Roseville City Hall.

“[Carr] is an avid golfer and bowler, as well as Metro Detroit’s leading expert on cheeseburgers," the parade committee wrote in a post on Facebook. "He has owned more than 20 cars in 36 years of driving and considers his 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt the best one by a mile.

Carr, formerly the host of WDIV's "Live in the D," was let go from the station late last year, after what was reportedly a heated argument with co-workers.

Part of the incident was streamed live during the Dec. 6 episode of Carr's Local 4+ program "Jason Carr Live."

A Plymouth native and Michigan State University alum, Carr had been with WDIV since 2016 after previously working at Fox 2 for over a decade.

Carr is married to Fox 2 evening anchor Taryn Asher, with whom he shares a daughter.

The broadcaster returned to his role as host last month when he launched “Jason Carr Drive!”, which streams live weekdays at 9 a.m. on his Facebook page.
