(WWJ) Auburn Hills -- Jeep is going to launch an extended range electric version of its Grand Wagoneer SUV next year.

“It will be the quickest, most powerful Grand Wagoneer yet,” says Mickey Bly, Stellantis VP of global propulsion systems. “Pretty fun to drive.”

The Grand Wagoneer REEV (for Range Extended Electric Vehicle) will also be the most powerful trim of the Wagoneer lineup, with 647 horsepower.   It will run as an electric vehicle for roughly 150 miles.  Then a gasoline powered generator onboard will provide electricity for the vehicle to keep driving.  That will give it a total range of 500 miles.

“Really the draw for EVs, that immediate torque, that not going to the gas pump,” says Jeep brand CEO Bob Broderdorf. “That thing buyers appreciate. Now they have the best of both worlds.”

The Grand Wagoneer REEV will be out early next year, before an extended range electric Ram pickup.  So, it will be the first vehicle of its time in the Stellantis lineup.

Broderorf says it will be "aggressively priced” but didn’t give specifics.   He also said sales would depend on demand, which could be strong in coastal areas, but otherwise is somewhat uncertain.

“The key is the middle of the country that has adopted EVs less.”

This is part of a revamping of the entire Grand Wagoneer lineup for 2026. All models will be called Grand Wagoneer, even the entry level trims. Starting price will be around $65,000.

“With the refreshed 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, we’re delivering more than just bold design and refined craftsmanship: we’re offering competitive pricing that ensures exceptional value in the large SUV segment,” said Broderdorf. “Every Grand Wagoneer also now proudly wears a Jeep badge, reinforcing its prominent position within the Jeep family, while making it easier for customers to find the exact model that fits their lifestyle and price point.”

The gasoline powered Grand Wagoneer will have a 3.0 liter four cylinder “Hurricane” engine.

“We’re giving our customers a choice in how they experience performance and efficiency,” said propulsion chief Bly. “Our award-winning 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo I-6 delivers outstanding power and capability, while the new range-extended electric system introduces a smarter path to electrification by combining the quiet confidence of all-electric driving with the assurance of long-range freedom. Both options showcase our commitment to delivering advanced propulsion solutions that meet real-world customer needs without compromise.”

There are a few design updates. One is the elimination of chrome. Many brands are doing this because chrome is less environmentally friendly.

All models of the Jeep Grand Wagoneer are built at the Warren Assembly Plant.
