DELTA TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 24-year-old employee for an auto supplier in Delta Township was killed late Monday night after they got caught between machinery and crushed, officials said.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office said they're investigating the death, which they called an "industrial accident," around 11:15 p.m. at the Alliance Interiors plant on West Mount Hope Highway in Delta Township.

According to an investigation by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the 24-year-old production technician was heating a finished part to remove oils when the next cycle of a vacuum forming mode began.

"The victim was caught between an extended conveyor and vacuum forming mold, crushing him," MIOSHA stated on their website.

The worker sustained fatal injuries in the accident, deputies added. The ECSO did not release the victim's identity or any further details about the incident, and said an investigation remains ongoing.

According to MIOSHA, 10 people have died on the job in 2023. On the same day as the Lansing industrial accident, 35-year-old laborer was killed while performing a tree trimming job at a private residence in Port Sanilac.

The bucket truck became stuck, safety officials said, so the crew attached a rope to the front axle of the dump truck and the tie down on the skid steer's bucket.

Strain caused the rope to snap, striking the laborer, who was operating the skid steer, in the chest.

Further details about either incident were not made public.
