BROWN CITY, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Lapeer County Sheriff's deputy is hospitalized after he was shot while serving a warrant Wednesday morning.

Police say the man who shot him was killed by another deputy.

The shooting happened at about 9 a.m. at a home on Willis Road in Brown City while two deputies were serving a warrant for 47-year-old Robert Raymond, according to Michigan State Police.

The deputy was shot when he opened the door. The other deputy returned fire, killing Raymond, police said.

Raymond, of Imlay City, had been wanted on criminal sexual conduct charges, though police did not immediately disclose details about that case.

The wounded deputy was transported via medical helicopter to hospital for treatment, and was last reported in stable condition. The other deputy was not shot, but is being treated for injuries at another hospital.

MSP said this investigation remains active, but there is no threat to the community at this time.
