GARDEN CITY (WWJ) -- A Wayne County jury has found a Livonia man not guilty of attempted murder in the shooting of two men at Rockstarz bar on New Year's Day.
The verdict in favor of 30-year old Brian Lindsay was announced on Wednesday, clearing him of criminal wrongdoing in connection with a parking lot confrontation, early in the morning of Jan. 1, 2026.
According to investigators. Lindsay shot 55-year-old Dennis Kewin and his son, 22-year-old Brendan Kewin, during a fight over a parking spot outside the bar, on Ford Rd. in Garden City.
Both Kewins were taken to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
Lindsey's defense attorney argued that the shooting was in self-defense after his client was dragged out of his Jeep by Dennis Kewin and attacked.
Surveillance video shown in the courtroom gave jurors a look at the fight.
Under Michigan law, in order to shoot someone, a CPL holder (Lindsey is one) must "honestly and reasonably" believe that the use of deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to yourself or to another person.
Rockstarz bar closed in April.
