(WWJ) — Several months after police searched his home, attorneys for WDIV TV reporter Hank Winchester announced Friday he has been exonerated, as no charges will be filed.

Beverly Hills police searched his home in June, taking several items, but authorities did not release many specifics about the exact specifics of the allegations against Winchester, though local reports say they were regarding sexual misconduct.

At a press conference Friday, his attorneys Todd Flood and Neil Rockind said Winchester took two polygraph tests and they showed he was telling the truth. Rockind said it was “unprecedented” for his client to have to take two polygraph tests.

Flood said he wanted to end all speculation regarding the longtime Local 4 reporter, calling Winchester a “champion of our town” who “stands up for victims.”

“The person that started this, the whole thing, had a motive; had an agenda,” Flood said.

The attorneys said Friday that Winchester, his family and loved ones suffered “for nothing.”

In a statement this afternoon, Winchester says he's thankful the investigation is over and the allegations made against him were outrageous, unfounded, and defamatory.

“I will always fight for you—just as I’ve recently had to fight for myself,” his statement said. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has shown me tremendous support, especially my family and friends. The messages from so many of you greatly helped me through this incredibly difficult time.”
