(WWJ) — As leaders in Macomb County on Thursday gathered for the annual State of the Roads Address, plans are in the works for historic investment when it comes to fixing the roads next year.
The Macomb County Department of Roads has plans for $83 million in road, bridge and traffic improvements in 2025, spread across roughly 70 different projects throughout the county.
MCDR Director Bryan Santo told WWJ Newsradio 950’s Luke Sloan that leaders decide which roads will get repairs and improvements, based on input from the community.
“We wouldn't get anywhere without stakeholder engagement, reaching out to the communities, reaching out to the community leaders, reaching out to the residents,” Santo said. “We basically rely on ‘three Cs’ — collaboration, coordination and communication.”
The biggest project in store for 2025 across the county is a reconstruction of Romeo Plank Road from 21-½ MIle Road to 23 Mile Road in Macomb Township. That is estimated to cost about $16.5 million.
Other large projects include a $10 million reconstruction of 10 Mile Road in Center Line, an $8 million project on Garfield Road in Fraser, as well as a $5 million project on 10 Mile in Warren.
A full list of planned projects for 2025, as well as a full recap of the county’s State of the Roads Address can be found on the county website.
