
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Officials said one man is dead and another is seriously injured after an argument escalated to gunfire and a tragic end Friday afternoon.
The Sterling Heights Police Department said a 34-year-old man was shot after a domestic dispute with a 20-year-old male suspect before 4:15 p.m. at a residence on 34765 Aqua Lane.
Police arrived on scene within one minute of the reported 911 call and located the victim with a gunshot wound to the face.
The 20-year-old suspect fled the home, still armed, and made his way toward the Maple Groove Apartment complex, officials said.
Officers were able surround the area and locate the man hiding near a dumpster.
Police said they attempted to convince the suspect to surrender, but the suspect turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where he is said to be in critical condition.
Police are still investigating the incident and have asked for the public's assistance.
