Macomb Township man facing federal charges after agents say he terrorized, threatened to kill LA rapper

(WWJ) - “IWILL [sic] GRAB YOU AND KILL UOU [sic]” and “I WILL KILL EVERYO E [sic] WHO HAS EVER HELPED YOU" -- it's two of dozens of threatening and expletive-laced messages that prosecutors say a Michigan man sent as part of a year-long campaign to terrorize an Los Angels-based rapper.

Now that man, Jordan Gabriel Giacona from Macomb, is behind bars, prosecutors say, and facing federal charges for sending repeated texts, tweets and voice messages threatening to kill rapper George Watsky and his family members.

Watsky first reported the harassment to the Los Angeles Police Department on March 17. According to the criminal complaint, Watsky said the threats had been going on for over a year.

Agents said Watsky grew concerned when he received a personal message on January 23, 2021, on Twitter from a user by the handle @JoJollyG, that stated, “I will shoot up your show at St. Andrews Hall. And I will blow up your first show in Texas in a similar style to the explosion from V for Vendetta.”

The complaint said Watsky was scheduled to perform on September 21, 2021 at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, Michigan.

According to LA police, by the time investigators went to discover the identity of the Twitter user, the account had been deleted.

But the Tweet was just the beginning of the harassment, federal agents said.

From then on through at least August 2022, the LA rapper received "numerous" threats through text message, various social media accounts and telephone calls.

When Watsky went to block the numbers and accounts, the suspect, identified as Giacona, would simply create another.

The rapper's manager emailed a cease and desist letter in March of 2021 to an email account with which the manager had previously communicated in connection with the threats -- directing Giacona to cease contact with Watsky.

"The next day, [Watsky]’s manager received a response email from that account stating, “Yeah I got you," agents said.

But the messages didn't stop, the complaint added.

"This cycle repeated numerous times," federal agents said.

In March 2021, agents say Watsky received a barrage of text messages from ten different telephone numbers, stating, “F— POCKET CHANGE ILL [sic] F—ING MIRDER [sic] YOU”; “I WILL F— YOU UP SO F—ING BAD”; “F— YOU UP” “I WILL F— YUOU [sic] UP. IDC IF IT KILLS YOU”; “I WILL KILL EVERY F—ING ONE OF YOU”; “EVERY. F—ING ONE”; “AND I WILL FOLLOW YOUR KIDS IN EVERYTHINF [sic] TJY [sic] DO”; “EVERY TIME THEY STEP OUTSIDE THEY WILL BE BEATEN TO S—. SO THAT THEY NEVER F—ING WILL STICK THEIR STUPID F—ING [VICTIM’S LAST NAME] HEADS UP”; “IWILL [sic] GRAB YOU AND KILL UOU [sic]” and “I WILL KILL EVERYO E [sic] WHO HAS EVER HELPED YOU.”

A search warrant revealed the numbers were created by one primary contact number that was traced to Giacona's mother in Michigan, agents said.

According to the complaint, the LAPD spoke with Giacona's mother by telephone, where she confirmed the number they were investigating was indeed her son's.

Giacona is also accused of sending threatening messages to Watsky on social media, which agents traced to Giacona's emails and IP address in Macomb.

Agents went to interview Giacona at his residence on Ascot Drive on August 4, 2022, when officials said Giacona admitted to sending Watsky the expletive-filled rants.

"He stated that he contacted [Watsky] because he (GIACONA) was upset that [Watsky] did not respond to GIACONA after GIACONA sent [Watsky] information he thought was interesting. GIACONA felt cheated due to [Watsky]'s failure to reply and wanted other people to see how he had treated [Watsky]. As a result, GIACONA began contacting [Watsky] repeatedly," the federal complaint outlined.

Giacona was arrested and charged with making interstate threats.
