MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) Madison Heights Police are asking the community to be on alert for a missing 6-year-old boy who is non-verbal and has autism, police said.

Police said Johnathan Skattebo was last seen by family on Sunday, February 1, around 3:30 p.m. when he walked away from his home on Hales Street, in the area of 12 Mile and Dequindre.

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, Madison Heights Police posted an update saying that Johnathan was seen on a ring doorbell camera walking west on Jenifer Avenue, also in the area of 12 Mile and Dequindre, toward Park Court. Authorities are asking residents in and around the area to check their home-security cameras and their garages. If you see him or have any information that might help locate him, please call 911 immediately.

Police have initiated an organized search party with K9s. If you would like to assist in the search, police ask that you stay inside your vehicles with your hazard lights on "so the K9s can thoroughly track scents." Again, if you see anything during that time, please call 911 right away.

Johnathan is described as 4’ tall and 65 lbs., with brown hair and grayish-blue eyes. He was wearing a blue and black winter coat, and matching blue and black boots when he left. Police worry he doesn’t have gloves on anymore.

Police said Johnathan likes to hide in cold, dark places.

If you have seen Johnathan or know where he is, please call 911 immediately and then the Madison Heights Police Department at (248) 585-2100.
