(WWJ) A Troy man has been charged in the alleged assault of four teenage boys he encountered at a local park.

The 41-year-old suspect was arrested a short time after the reported incident at around 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22.

According to Troy Police, the alleged victims — two 15-year-old Troy residents and two 16-year-old Troy residents — were at Boulan park on Crooks Road when it started to rain.

The teens told police they ran under a pavilion, which was occupied by the suspect.

For unknown reasons, according to a police report: "The suspect struck one of the boys in the back of the head and then began punching and slapping everyone else."

The teens were able to escape by running away.

Officers found the man, described by the victims, walking along Northfield Parkway, South of Wattles Rd., and he was taken into custody.

Asked by police about happened at the park, the man insisted he didn't know anything about it. He has since been charged with assault and battery.
