Punches thrown in dispute between employees at Troy Walmart: police

A 49-year-old Walmart worker is seeking criminal charges

(WWJ) One Walmart employee is seeking charges against another after the two came to blows at work.

According to Troy Police, it happened on Monday, Aug. 23, at the store located at 2001 West Maple Rd. in Troy.

Police said two Walmart workers — identified an 18-year-old Oak Park man and a 49-year-old Warren man — got into an argument just a little before 1:30 p.m., and began to fight.

The older worker told police he was struck in the back of the head, and he defended himself by punching his co-worker.

However, the younger man said his co-worker started it by pushing him in the chest, and that it was only then that he hit him in the side of the head.

The 18-year-old then became upset "when the co-worker began to run his mouth," police said, so he punched him in the face.

The pair then exchanged a few more punches before ending the scuffle and resuming their work.

Police said the 18-year-old employee did not want to pursue criminal charges, but the 49-year-old employee did.

Authorities did not say what the initial argument was about.

The men's names were not released.
