Man in custody, accused of running over, strangling ex-girlfriend in Royal Oak Township

ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP (WWJ)— A man is in custody, accused of strangling his former girlfriend and running her over with his car in Royal Oak Charter Township.

Michigan State Police said the woman, who was in an on-again-off-again relationship with the suspect and had a child with him, was walking in the area of Cloverdale and Wyoming around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday (9/7) morning when he ran her over with his car.


The suspect, 25, got out of the car and strangled her with his hands until she passed out, according to State Police.

He ran away from the scene.

The Second District Fugitive Team arrested him without incident on Thursday (9/8), State Police said.

She sustained "minor injuries," according to State Police.

He is in jail, pending arraignment.
