Drunk, reckless driving charges filed in crash that killed young Macomb County man on I-94

(WWJ) An Oakland County man is facing charges after it's alleged he drove drunk, causing a crash that killed a Macomb County man on the freeway.

Anthony Dwayne Magee, 43, of Franklin, appeared in 36th District Court for an arraignment Wednesday afternoon in connection with the incident last Sunday, along I-94 in Detroit.

According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, it is alleged that Magee with was intoxicated and speeding on westbound on I-94 near M-10 The Lodge in Detroit, at around 4:30 p.m., when he struck a parked car, fatally injuring Connor Clancy of St. Clair Shores.

Michigan State Police arrived on the scene to find Clancy, 22, trapped in the car. EMS responded, and the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Magee was injured in the crash was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, he was charged with one count of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and one count of Reckless Driving Causing Death.

Bond was set at $200,000 with the conditions that he wear a GPS tether and does not drunk if he is released.

Magee will be back in court for a preliminary exam set for Nov. 9. MSP said results of a blood test are pending.
