(WWJ) Authorities are looking for tips about similar incidents after a man allegedly grabbed a young girl at a Walmart in West Michigan

The incident happened around 2:40 p.m. Sunday at the store on US-31 near Comstock Street in Grand Haven Township.

According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, the 43-year-old suspect — wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants and a surgical mask — approached an 8-year-old girl and grabbed her arm.

He left the store when the girl's mother pulled her away from him, and the little girl wasn't hurt.

Responding deputies found a man matching the man's description nearby, and he was taken into custody.

The suspect, from the Grand Haven-area man, is being held at the Ottawa County Jail awaiting an arraignment on expected charges.

The sheriff's office said the suspect may have had "contact" with a second girl as he was leaving the store. That child and her family have not been identified, officials said, and they're asking he parent or guardian to call the sheriff's office.

As the investigation continues, officials said they have reason to believe the suspect may have approached other other young girls at other businesses in the area.

Anyone who may have had contact or who has information about additional incidents is asked to call the Ottawa County Central Dispatch at 1-800-249-0911 or the Silent Observer anonymous tips line at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368).
