FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) A man accused of shooting and killing his brother during an argument in Farmington Hills is in custody.

Farmington Hills Police said their Investigative Bureau, Directed Patrol Unit and South Oakland Narcotics Information Consortium took the suspect, 30, into custody near 11 Mile and Groesbeck, with help from the Warren Police Department. They made the arrest on Sunday (5/26) around 12:45 p.m.

Police said the mother of the victim and suspect called 911 on Saturday (5/25) around 3:30 p.m. to report that her sons, 28 and 30, were involved in an argument—leading to the older brother shooting the younger brother at a home on Saratoga Circle near 11 Mile and Halsted. The mother found her younger son with a single gunshot wound to the chest, police said. Officers found the victim in critical condition, and members of the Farmington Hills Fire Department helped rush him to Corewell Hospital Farmington Hills, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, Farmington Hills Police said. They deployed several officers, three K-9 units, and multiple department drones to search the area to no avail. Investigators and Evidence Technicians obtained search warrants and processed the crime scene, with the help of the FBI’s Evidence Response Team.

On May 26th, an autopsy was conducted on the victim, confirming his cause of death as a homicide, police said.

“The speed, safety and precision of this investigation is yet another example of the exceptional work, done every day by these officers and investigators,” Chief Jeff King said in a release. “Their professionalism and dedication to maintaining the safety of our community is simply outstanding.”

Police said suspect information will be released following his arraignment. The victim’s name has not been released.
