GARDEN CITY (WWJ) -- A man is in custody after a woman reported a domestic incident in Garden City.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reports that neighbors and officials initially thought there was a barricaded gunman situation when police were called to Maplewood and Gilman streets around 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
The woman who alerted Garden City Police said that she was in distress. At that point, the male suspect fled the scene.
After officials arrived and searched the area, they found the man hiding behind a house about a block away.
Police from Westland, Dearborn Heights, Livonia and Garden City were all on the scene to assist.
The situation ended without further incident, and charges are now pending against the suspect.
