(WWJ) A Sterling Heights man jailed after he was allegedly caught using his iPhone to record another man in a gym bathroom.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were called to investigate the incident, Wednesday afternoon. at the Planet Fitness on Lapeer Rd. on Orion Township
According to investigators, the 22-year-old suspect was caught in the act by the victim, an 18-year-old Orion man.
The victim told deputies that he saw the suspect place his iPhone, with the camera facing the victim, under the stall while he went to the bathroom.
He confronted the perpetrator and called 911.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and his phone was taken into evidence.
A detective conducted an interview, and it was determined that the suspect attempted to record the other man for sexual gratification, the sheriff's office said.
Detectives seized additional electronic devices for their investigation, as they look into reports of similar incidents. Evidence collected is being forensically analyzed to determine the extent of suspect's alleged crimes, and were they took place, the sheriff's office said.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, remains in the Oakland County Jail awaiting an arraignment on criminal charges.
