
CENTER LINE (WWJ) -- Center Line Police have a man in custody after he allegedly fired shots at a police officer during a confrontation outside a home on Saturday.
Police said officers responded at around 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 to calls about a home invasion at State Park and Landau, in the area of 10 Mile Rd. and Van Dyke Ave.
The suspect apparently knew the people whose house he broke into, according to investigators.
Police said the man demanded a gun, took the AR-style pistol from the home, ran outside, and was confronted by a Center Line officer as while he was preparing to drive away in a silver sedan.
After police allege the man pointed the pistol at the officer the officer opened fire, and the man shot back. The man then sped off.
Police said the officer was not injured in the gunfire.
The man was later taken into custody without further incident with help from Warren Police.
The suspect's name was not immediately released as he awaits formal charges.
