FERNDALE, Mich. (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is facing charges after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a clerk at a Ferndale 7-Eleven store on Tuesday.

Ferndale police say Marvin Bell, 39, has been charged with one count of assault with the intent to commit criminal sexual conduct for an incident at the 7-Eleven at 9 Mile Road and Pinecrest Drive early Tuesday morning.

It all unfolded around 4:30 a.m., when authorities say Bell was in the convenience store, or standing out front, for about 30 minutes, before he allegedly attempted to sexually assault the clerk.

The clerk resisted the attack and the suspect fled the scene on foot, according to police. The victim called 911 and officers responded to the scene, but did not find the suspect.

Later on Tuesday, police released surveillance footage of the man and asked for the public's help in tracking him down.

Ferndale police officers eventually found Bell around 2:30 p.m. sitting at a bus stop at McNichols and Livernois in Detroit and arrested him.

The case was presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office on Wednesday and Bell was charged and arraigned on one count of assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, a 10-year felony.

Bell was given a $125,000 cash or surety bond and is due back in court on Aug. 5.
