ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- An Ann Arbor man who allegedly used a box cutter to slash another man's throat has been charged with attempted murder.

Ann Arbor Police responded to a call at around 11 p.m. Monday, July 7, about a man found with a slash wound to the neck at Liberty Plaza — a public space on S. Division, near E. Huron, in downtown Ann Arbor.

When officers arrived, the suspect — later identified as 30-year-old Kimani Hamilton — had already left the scene.

The 58-year-old victim has non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and was treated at a local hospital.

Police said a preliminary investigation found that the victim had gotten into an argument with Hamilton, when it's alleged Hamilton pulled out a box cutter and attacked.

Hamilton was tracked down by police an arrested on Tuesday.

He was arraigned Wednesday in 14A-1 District Court on a charge of assault with intent to murder, and was given a $500,000 bond. He remains held in the Washtenaw County Jail.
