(WWJ) A 27-year-old man is facing felony assault charges for what police say was a road rage shooting on I-75.
It happened the afternoon on Friday, March 26, along I-75 near E. Holly Road.
According to a Michigan State Police investigation, Jamison Nathaniel Hanson of Birch Run began tailgating the victim's vehicle in the northbound lanes, a little before 2 p.m.
When Hanson tried to pass the victim's vehicle, a female passenger in the victim's car flipped him off, police said.
That's when it's alleged Hanson pulled out a handgun and fired one round at the victim.
Fortunately, the shot missed the car and the people inside it, and there were on injuries.
The victim pulled over immediately and called 911. The suspect's description was put out to other police agencies, and Hanson was stopped by a Genesee County Sheriff's deputy at northbound I-75 and Willard.
MSP said a handgun and casing were recovered by the deputy, who detailed the suspect until troopers arrived and made an arrest.
Hanson was arraigned Tuesday on three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in the 52-2 District Court of Clarkston. Bond was set at $10,000/10% on the condition that he have no contact with victims and does not posses any firearms if he is released.
Further court dates are pending.
