STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A man suspected of shooting a grandmother in west Michigan has now been charged in a murder-for-hire plot in Metro Detroit.
Federal investigators say 24-year-old Andre Sims of Grand Rapids was promised $10K to kill a Sterling Heights woman who lived at the Park Place Condominiums located near Metro Parkway and Dequindre Road.
According to police, Sims allegedly waiting five hours for the victim to leave her home, then opened fire. The woman was shot three times but survived the attack, which happened in November 2020.
Sims was charged on Thursday with conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire and being a felon in possession of ammunition. The person who hired Sims has not been named by police.
Currently, Sims is being housed in a west Michigan jail as he also faces charges related to a January shooting that left a 65-year-old grandmother dead.
