MT. CLEMENS (WWJ) - A Detroit man was arraigned on almost a dozen felony charges after police say he shot one person twice while robbing a Warren dispensary at gunpoint two months ago.

The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office announced 62-year-old Rodney Robinson of Detroit was arraigned on 10 felony charges in connection to an armed robbery that took place at the Sherwood Dispensary in Warren back on June 9.

According to the Warren Police Department, Robinson is accused of gaining entry into the business on Sherwood, north of 10 Mile, by shooting through the glass door. The bullet then struck a victim on the property. Robinson was able to unlock the door and shot the victim a second time as he tried to get away, officers added.

It is alleged that Robinson, along with another man, got inside the business where police said he stole the dispensary's safe.

The two men got away in a Chevy Tahoe driven by another suspect. Robinson was later arrested for the crime as well as the two other men believed to be involved.

Robinson appeared in 37th District County in Warren and was arraigned on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder (life felony), Armed Robbery (life felony), Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery (life felony), Assault with Intent to Rob while Armed (life felony), Felon in Possession of Firearm (five year felony), and five counts of Felony Firearm (2 year mandatory felony).

His bond was set at $500,000 cash/surety only and he was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

"Macomb County Prosecuting Attorney Peter J. Lucido's Office policy is to request a mental health assessment for every gun crime to provide an opportunity for mental health treatment before a suspect can get a chance to commit another gun crime," the prosecutor's office said.

In the event Robinson is released on bond, a judge has ordered he wear a GPS monitoring device, have no contact with victims or co-defendants, and have no weapons.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 8.

"Thank you to the Warren Police Department who investigated this matter tirelessly which led to the apprehension of all of the accused involved. We will ensure that justice is brought forth to the dangerous wrongdoers who participated in this armed robbery, and assault," Lucido said.
