ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) — A Detroit man accused of a deadly shooting at a Royal Oak Township hotel has been charged with first-degree murder.

Jason McCullough, 25, was arraigned Wednesday in 45th District Court, nearly two months after the shooting.

On March 9 Michigan State Police were called to the Baymont Inn on 8 Mile Road, near the township’s borders with Ferndale and Detroit.

When officers showed up around 10:20 a.m. that Saturday, they found a 27-year-old man who had been shot and killed.

While authorities have not released many further details about the incident, including what led to the shooting, MSP officials say McCullough remained at the Oakland County Jail Wednesday afternoon, held without bail.

Officials did not disclose McCullough’s next court date.
