(WWJ) A convicted felon out on parole has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of a woman at a Romulus hotel.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Tuesday announced the case against 52-year-old Michael David McCarren of Romulus in the killing for 42-year-old Jennifer Leombruno, also of Romulus, two weeks ago.

At around 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, Romulus police officers were called to a hotel in the 8200 block of Merriman Road, near Detroit Metro Airport, on a report of a bleeding man and a possibly dead woman.

Officers found Leombruno in a hotel room with multiple stab wounds to her chest and abdomen. She was pronouced dead by EMS at the scene.

It is alleged, according to Worthy's office, that an argument between McCarren and Leombruno escalated, and McCarren stabbed Leombruno multiple times.

The two had had formerly lived together and have children in common, prosecutors said, but the kids were not there at the time of the killing.

McCarren was arraigned in 34th District Court on Friday and was remanded to jail without bond.

McCarren will be back in court for a Probable Cause Conference set for Aug. 25

Michigan Department of Corrections records show McCarren has an extensive criminal record, having served time for convictions on domestic violence, felonious assault, firearms and drug charges dating back to 2009.

He was paroled on June 29 of this year.
