(WWJ) Olisa Williams was born Aug. 10, 1981 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her mother, Denise Frazier-Daniel, never got to celebrate her daughter's first birthday.
Now, nearly four decades later, the child's father had been charged with murder.
According to missing persons organization The Charley Project, Olisa had been living with her mother, Denise Frazier-Daniel, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Denise told her attorney that the baby's father, Isiah Verna "Bobo" Williams, entered her home in May of 1982, knocked her down and took 9-month-old Olisa.
That was the last time the mother saw her baby.
After that, Williams and Frazier-Daniel both moved back to Ann Arbor, where they had family and friends, and Olisa disappeared from that city, police said.
After Olisa's disappearance, Williams called the baby's mother several times, telling different stories about what became of Olisa. It's alleged the man once claimed that he had lost the child, another time that he had killed her, and another said the child was "across the water."
Ann Arbor Police searched the Huron River for Olisa, but didn't find anything.
At one point authorities theorized Williams may have given the baby away, and that Olisa — who would be 40 years old today — never knew that she was missing.
According to the Michigan Attorney Genera's Office, Frazier-Daniel never gave up looking for her daughter, and became heavily involved with missing person organizations in addition to maintaining contact with police, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
As years passed, Olisa was never found and is now presumed dead, the AG said.
At the beginning of the year, the AG's office accepted a referral from the Ann Arbor PD to review the investigation.
"After thoroughly reviewing the years of work" by police, the AG said Williams has been charged one count of open murder in Washtenaw County's 15th District Court.
On Wednesday, Williams was in custody, in the process of being extradited from Chicago, where he's been living. Future court dates are pending.
